About The Memorial

The Suicide Prevention Memorial is a grassroots community project rooted in remembrance, connection, and healing. Our traveling 66-foot, life-sized memorial ribbon carries the message “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” as it moves from city to city, offering space for grief, hope, and belonging. Through sound baths, mental health programs, community gatherings, and our mobile memorial tour, we work to raise awareness, uplift healing, and support those impacted by suicide.

This memorial began as a simple hope — a vision of creating awareness through a powerful visual symbol the community could see from near and far. When I first shared the idea, people asked me why. The truth was, at the time, I didn’t fully know how to answer. What I did know was that people needed to feel seen. They needed to know they were not alone, that there is a way out of the darkness, and that those we’ve lost deserve to be remembered without judgment or shame.

From a young age, I understood how important mental health truly is. I struggled to fit in, to understand the “why’s,” and to quiet the negativity that often overshadowed the positive. Over time, I learned that communities grow stronger when they are rooted in safe spaces — places of healing, nurturing, and connection, even if those spaces come from unexpected people or places.

Now, with this large memorial ribbon, I see more clearly than ever the purpose it is meant to serve. It is more than a symbol; it is the beginning of a larger vision — a permanent home for the memorial and a safe space dedicated to community care. This ribbon marks the start of something bigger: a welcoming place for healing, remembrance, and support for all who are touched by suicide and mental health struggles.
